The International Museum Day is celebrated annually in Spain on 18 May. The holiday was first organized in 1977 with the purpose of acquainting people with the historical and cultural heritage of the country and turned into a tradition. On this day in Barcelona , various cultural events are held, and most importantly, on May 19, the Night of Museums takes place, during which in the evening hours (from 19:00 to 01:00) you can visit the best museums of the city for free. If you are in Barcelona for the first time, be sure to visit the MUHBA Museum of History of Barcelona, the MNAC National Museum of Art of Catalonia, the Picasso Museum and the CCCB Center for Contemporary Culture in Barcelona.
