One of the most recognizable buildings in Barcelona is the Agbar Tower, in the night is like a giant cucumber glowing with blue, red and purple lights. According to the architect Jean Nouvel, this form should simultaneously resemble the stone monoliths of Mount Montserrat and the famous fountains-geysers of Barcelona.
Construction began in 1999, by 2005 Agbar acquired its present form. At the 142-meter tower there are as many as 4,500 lighting elements, so that the artificial glow is visible long before approaching the monument. The facade is made of almost 60 thousand alternating opaque and glass square blocks, so visitors of the tower can also enjoy the illumination. Various fairs are held in the foyer, and on the floors besides the offices there are restaurants and cafes.
The nearest metro station is Glories. The tower can be visited almost around the clock thanks to the existing restaurants. The entrance is free.
