“Parental home” for two world stars of the opera scene – Jose Carreras and Montserrat Caballe, the Liceu Theater is located at the very beginning of the Rambla Capuchin. Built in 1847 and opened after a fire in 1999, today it is the true Grand Theater of Barcelona and the No. 1 place to come to listen to the opera. The repertoire may well give odds to the famous opera sites of the world, and the names of the artists are all loud. The facade and interiors of the theater are no less interesting than the performances, so the institution is open to the public and outside theatrical performances.
The most interesting rooms are the elegant Renaissance lobby, the luxurious Mirror Hall, as you might guess, with a mass of mirrors, gold moldings, paintings and sublime sayings about the nature of art in general and music in particular, and the actual auditorium in red velvet. Daily guided tours are organized under the guidance of a guide for 50 minutes.
The cost of the tour is 16 EUR.
La Rambla dels Caputxins, 51-59
