A statue of a giant cat weighing 2 tons, a length of 7 meters and a height of two and a half meters appeared in the capital of Catalonia in 1987. Its author is the world-famous painter and sculptor Fernando Botero. The “broiler” cat is made of bronze in the characteristic Botero style – fleshy sides, heavy paws, but not without grace: despite the size, the look is very streamlined. However, not to notice it, “sneaking” on the street La Rambla del Raval in the center of Barcelona , as you know, it will be quite difficult.

After the municipality of Barcelona bought the “Cat Botero”, as this sculpture is often called, it could not take a long time to settle down in the city and moved from place to place for four times. Since 2004, he finally found a refuge in the central Barcelona quarter of Rambla and to change the “residence permit”, judging by his determined mind, no longer intends.

Just like the Bull on Wall Street, some parts of the cat’s body are very popular with tourists. To this, they are being pushed by locals who persistently harry bikes, that if you do not rub something, you will never return to Barcelona. “Do you want to come to us again? Then go and rub! “- seriously say Barcelona. And roll with laughter, when gullible tourists run to fulfill this “indispensable condition” of return.
