This unusual iron structure of the Basque sculptor Eduardo Chilide, the authorities of Barcelona acquired in 1986 at an exhibition of the author, organized by the Joan Miró Foundation. At the suggestion of the sculptor, his work was placed in the center of the Gothic Quarter in the Plaza del Rey (Plaça del Rei). There, sculpture plays the role of a bridge connecting the Middle Ages and modernity. It is believed that the holes in this geometric construction are symbolized by medieval arches, in addition, they can consider the Latin letter “B”, with which the word Barcelona begins.
