According to the National Institute of Statistics, in June, 8,500,000 tourists visited Spain (1.3% more than last year), which spent 9,395,000 euros. Especially noticeable increase in the influx of tourists to Catalonia.
Most travelers arrive in Spain from the UK: the number of English is 2,200,000, and the second place is occupied by the French – in June 2018 there were more than 900,000 people.
The most popular regions in June were the Balearic Islands, which hosted 2,120,000 tourists, Catalonia (2,090,000) and Andalusia (1,160,000).
As for expenses, on average, June tourists spent 152 euros a day, which is 6.2% more than usual spend in other months. Despite the fact that this year the British were less than in the past, they spent more money, leaving in Spain 2 033 000 euros, which is 5.2% higher than the amount of the previous year. The Germans saved this time – the income from their presence fell by 12.3%, and the total amount was 1 233 000 euros.
Curiously, most tourists spend money in Catalonia: the sums they spent make up 25% of the total tourism income in Spain.
