The market of Sant Antoni in Barcelona is experiencing a buying boom after repairs

Upon completion of the work, which lasted almost 9 years, an updated market in the Catalan capital is visited daily by an average of 20,000 people.

The largest market in Barcelona , San Antonio opened after a long repair on May 23, and since then has received almost 2.3 million buyers and just curious. On the first day after the opening of the San Antoni, 81 746 people visited. This justified the hopes of the administration of the ancient market, built by the architect Antoni Rovira-i-Trias in 1882.

Large-scale repairs, which spent 80 million euros, made important innovations and made San Antonio a modern trading space. Now the market has 235 outlets, 52 of which provide fresh food. In addition, on the lower floor of the market there is a supermarket Lidl and a fitness center Duet Fit, the opening of which is scheduled for the coming months.

However, the transformations are not yet over: the remnants of the Via Augusta of the Roman era will be turned into a museum object, on the lower floor will set up the conventional signs, and in September the dismantling of two temporary tents of the market in Urgell Street will end. Meanwhile, in the vicinity of the market, the mayor’s office is completing the second phase of works on the improvement of Comte Borrell, Tamarit, Borrell and Parlament streets and the expansion of sidewalks at Sagrat Cor and Ferran Sunyer schools.
